Sr Manager - Global Distribution

The Sr Global Distribution Manager will provide logistics support for growth and rest of the world (ROW) expansion of the company’s drug product portfolio through the oversight and development of the international and North American distribution network.  The Global Distribution Manager will also ensure the company’s logistics network is operating in an efficient and compliant manner.  Development and management of an integrated schedule for various projects is integral to success in this role.  The Global Distribution Manager will also participate in continuous process improvement efforts leading to a highly effective, reliable and harmonized global supply chain.


  • Ensure product security, safety, and integrity through understanding and application of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Distribution Practices (GDP), and the Drug Quality Supply Chain Act (DQSCA) within the distribution network.
  • Liaison for customs broker activities for import of goods to US Company and CMO locations.
  • Responsible for carrier negotiations and selection, performance management, freight payables and carrier claims.
  • Maintain awareness of market intelligence, best practices, and regulatory changes related to logistics to maintain streamlined and well-understood business processes and systems within distribution. 
  • Develop strategies for the use of local, domestic and global sourcing techniques to achieve best price, delivery and quality. Coordinates the negotiation of agreements with Procurement and Contracting to obtain third-party service resources.
  • Design and oversee efficient and compliant processes supporting shipping of intermediate and finished product between Company’s manufacturing network including Contracting Manufacturing Organizations (CMO), and Contract Packaging Operations (CPO).  Maintain shipping schedules and cycle times that ensure reliable and consistent delivery. 
  • Provide internal stakeholders with guidance and shipping coordination for import/export of raw materials (RM) as well as clinical trials, tech transfer, and pipeline projects.
  • Defines cold chain packaging requirements and develops packaging to meet temperature and logistics capacity supporting Product, Clinical, and Raw Material shipments.  Will oversee projects for qualification of new or altered cold chain packaging designs.
  • Support globalization of company’s  products through international 3PL selection and design of logistics models. 
  • Lead shipping packaging design projects in support of business changes, cost reduction initiatives, and new product requirements.

The qualified candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent required. MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant experience in biotech/pharmaceutical industry preferred with demonstrated progressive career growth
  • Experience working in matrix organizations; works effectively within cross-functional and multi-location/ multi-cultural teams requiring large-scale coordination
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes and industry standards
  • Experience with cold chain packaging design and validation and the practical use during shipping.
  • Working knowledge in Inco Terms, US Customs import & export regulations (e.g. IATA and IMDG).
