Summary

Develops sourcing strategies for each category as appropriate. Purchases goods and services for the organization. Evaluates suppliers and vendors through the process of establishing win-win long term relationships with continuous improvement as a focus.  Ensures the organization has a competitive place in the market. Monitors purchases and deliveries to ensure inventory levels are maintained while optimizing existing and 3PL storage conditions. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:           

  • Develop, hone and execute new improved procurement strategies across all channels of purchasing
  • Institute policies and procedures for collecting and reporting key metrics that will reduce our overall expenses while increasing productivity
  • Perform cost analyses and set appropriate benchmarks for spend categories
  • Coordinate deliveries of goods and supplies as necessary
  • Create policies and procedures for risk management and mitigation of potential supply shortages
  • Set, track, and maintain budget
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and year over year savings across supply categories
  • Research and network to discover viable suppliers; work with vendors to secure advantageous terms
  • Oversee supply needs; approve the ordering of necessary goods and services
  • Manage workflow from initiation to completion (of both purchased orders and deliveries)
  • Thoroughly examine and test existing contracts
  • Collaborate with key persons to ensure clear communication of the specifications and expectations of the company
  • Foresee trends and predict alterations in the negotiating ability of suppliers and clients 

Key Performance Indicators

  • PPV (Purchase Price Variance – year over year improvements)
  • Continuous Improvement Opportunities identified
  • Reduction in working capital as related to supplies / ingredients
  • Zero supply / ingredients stock outs impacting the operation
  • X new suppliers/vendors identified for risk mitigation 

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in supply chain or manufacturing related fields
  • Undergraduate Degree is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful work experience in a procurement role
  • Exceptional talent in negotiating and networking
  • Solid understanding of contract terms and agreements 

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint
  • Proficiency in supply chain ERP systems i.e. SAP, Microsoft NAV, JD Edwards
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all professional levels
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong managerial, leadership, business partnering and influencing skills; must be able to work independently and exercise initiatives as appropriate
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively manage various levels of employees
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, including but not limited to performance management (employee evaluations, discipline, corrective action, coaching) and interviewing are required 

Environment and Physical Demands 

  • Cold and wet, must enter freezers and coolers with temperatures below 32 degrees
  • Lifting climbing, bending, standing, stooping as needed to perform various shipping tasks.
