Looking for confident, people-oriented individuals to develop relationships with scrap providers and purchase materials on behalf of the resale manufacturer.

 

SUMMARY: 

 

You will have a company car and will be on the road looking for vendors. Buyers will be responsible for developing relationships with scrap providers and purchase materials on behalf of the company for resale (examples of locations to visits: Auto salvage yards, scrapyards, other dealers, CORE contacts, Tow yards, Muffler shops, etc.). Your territory is about 100-150mi.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Buys merchandise or commodities for resale to wholesale or retail consumers.
• Weighs merchandise and product with a scale at client site for pricing.
• Negotiates prices, discount terms, or transportation arrangements with suppliers.
• Examines, selects, orders or purchases merchandise consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirements, or other factors, such as environmental soundness.
• Recommends mark-up rates, markdown rates, or merchandise selling prices.
• Authorizes payment of invoices or return of merchandise.
• Collaborates with vendors to obtain or develop desired products.
• Inspects merchandise or products to determine quality, value, or yield.
• Consults with store or merchandise managers about budgets or goods to be purchased.
• Provides clerks with information to print on price tags, such as price, mark-ups or mark-downs, manufacturer number, season code, or style number.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:


• Education and/or Experience – High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; 3 years of scrap industry experience preferred.
• Language Skills – Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Ability to effectively present information to management. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, clients, staff, vendors,
• Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all measure units, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Computer Skills – This role requires above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office. To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills, including record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, etc.

 

Other Qualifications – Valid driver’s license is required; Must be able to travel 80% of the time, through the use of a company vehicle; Overnight stays and travel by commercial airline may be necessary.
