Position Description

The Director of Engineering and his/her team provide engineering support for technical analysis, facility layout and design, material handling and automation design and selection, business delivery and continuous improvement of the company’s services offerings and operations. This position reports to the Sr. VP of customer solutions.



  • Develop, expand and manage the corporate engineering team.
  • Drive governance and standardization in the engineering function and specifically slotting, handling and storage strategies, warehouse mechanization, robotization, labor management, productivity and benchmark reporting and analyses.
  • Work closely with other teams as operations, solutions engineering, business delivery, LEAN, IS, innovation and transportation to understand the business and adjust engineering strategies and solutions to meet changing demands.
  • Develop, maintain, report and review on program and project status of the corporate engineering team. Assure timely delivery and agree upon priorities and corrective actions where required.
  • Develop, maintain, report and review standardized S&OP planning for corporate engineering team resource planning. Agree upon priorities where required.
  • Develop, inspire and coach a decentralized team of field engineering managers, senior engineers and engineers in a matrix organization.
  • Develop, maintain and execute plans for employee engagement, development and training for all members of the corporate engineering team.
  • Develop, maintain and execute processes and tools to share best practices and learnings with the engineering team and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships and act as the corporate engineering advocate on all levels.




  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering discipline is preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years warehouse operations /engineering experience. 
  • Experience in continuous improvement disciplines of LEAN, Six-Sigma, and in quality management programs-ISO-9001:2008
  • Black Belt certification required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have solid presentation and communication skills with the ability to persuade internal and external customers in relation to continuous improvement efforts.  
  • Highly knowledgeable in modeling software. 
  • Knowledgeable in continuous improvements processes including Kaizen, Value Stream Mapping, 5S, and A3. 
  • Familiar with work measurement techniques such as MOST, MTM, or MODAPTS.
  • Ability to travel to other locations.
