Commercial/Industrial Mechanical/Piping Superintendent

Prominent regional, award winning Mechanical Contractor seeks an experienced Commercial/Industrial Mechanical piping superintendent to drive the day-to-day productivity and completion of various projects.

Our client is a full service, prime mechanical and plumbing contractor and technical service company specializing in the Industrial and Commercial sectors of the construction market.  Since the 1970’s the company has been successfully completing HVAC, mechanical metal fabricating, process piping, plumbing, and service work in owner-occupied facilities as well as new construction.

Ideal candidate for this position will be goal-oriented, ambitious, driven and highly motivated with the knowledge and skills necessary to complete work on plumbing projects ranging from $100,000 to $10 Million.  Experience with a self-performing mechanical contractor is extremely important. 

Duties and responsibilities (including, but not limited to)

  • Create isometric drawings from P&ID and orthogonal drawings, including field measurements and site conditions.
  • Perform additional assignments per Superintendent and Project manager.
  • Understanding and experience with Domestic Water and Pas Piping and the controls and connections to process equipment.
  • Read and understand P&ID and Isometric drawings.
  • Layout pipe routes through existing plant conditions.

Experience with some or all of the following (including, but not limited to):

  • PVC – Socket & SDR-35 (1/2” thru 6”)
  • HDPE – Fusion Weld (4” thru 24”)
  • Copper – Threaded & Socket (sweat) (1/2” thru 3”) * Can layout pipelines including changes in elevation, direction & flow (ie – take-outs for elbows, rolling off-sets, etc…).
  • Install in-line instrumentation, valves, and other appurtances.
  • Willing to work at least 40 hours per week, or as much as 7-12’s, if required by contract.
  • Flexibility on work environment (ie – dirty versus clean work).
  • Flexibility to work night shift as required.
  • Flexibility to work outside the trade, if plumbing work is not available.

Basic Requirements (including, but not limited to):

  • Minimum 7 years Commercial/Industrial Plumbing experience.
  • Additional experience as a Plumber, Construction or Maintenance with Plumbing experience.
  • Own Transportation and willingness to work on Long Island
  • Ability to work off-shift and extended hours as needed.US Citizen or Green Card Verified preferred. 
  • Provide own hand tools.Background Check and Drug Test
  • Training and practical knowledge of construction trades.
