Key function of the position

  • Technical Director to work closely with our team. Reports directly to the Executive VP of Operations and has oversight for the key functions including R&D, product development, quality programs, technology development, material selection, and vendor management.
  • Must have experience with Industrial Coatings. The primary applications are Epoxy based industrial coatings used for Metal applications (Water Tanks, Water Transmission)
  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is required. Masters degree a plus but not required.
  • 7+ years experience in Industrial Coatings with an emphasis on product development, applications, and managing projects

Requirements

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry is required. Masters degree a plus but not required.
  • 7+ years experience in Industrial Coatings with an emphasis on product development, applications, and managing projects.
  • Possess a strong sense of urgency and follow through in order to contribute to the overall success of the company.
  • Desire a balance of technical knowledge, application know how, and people management skills.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight and leadership of our Technical and Research & Development groups
  • New Product Development Assign projects, set priorities, and direct activities related to new product development
  • Product Improvement
  • Technology selection. Support the choice of technology required to meet product performance, working with assigned development chemists and the suppliers of the technology.
  • Lead the company efforts to stay current on key technology offerings from suppliers. Ability to evaluate materials and source alternate materials and suppliers. Ability to negotiate raw material pricing with key suppliers

 

Oversee Quality Program

  • Establish & maintain the quality program, incl. RM, COA’s, SDS’s, non-conforming raw materials & finished goods.
  • Oversee specification requirements and tolerances for product consistency; insure use of meaningful test specifications
  • Insure appropriate and adequate test equipment is provided; specify new equipment and tests, insure calibration maintained where required.

 

Support / Maintain Environmental / Regulatory Programs & Requirements

  • Stormwater, County Emissions Reports, Tier II, Form R, Notification of Waste Activity, permits, and registrations
  • Hazardous waste compliance, labeling, manifests

ANSI  61 NSF Compliance

  • Coordinate all activities to meet & maintain product compliance, including product submittal and passage, labeling, follow up testing, and compliance audits.
