Responsible for the repair, replacement and maintenance of fleet vehicles and equipment throughout the organization. This includes parts procurement and warehouses, vehicle procurement/replacement programs, fuel dispensing network, maintenance / fabrication shop operations and fleet information systems. 

This position is responsible for the sale / disposal of vehicle and equipment as life-cycles are reached and vehicle and equipment rotation or replacement occurs. 

This position is responsible for establishing fleet accounts that result in the optimization of costs, risks reduction and efficiency improvements in fleet operations. 

Example of Duties: 

•Provides vehicle and equipment replacement planning. 
•Plans, organizes and coordinates the servicing and maintenance of all vehicles and equipment. 
•Performs functions supporting the overall company effort in fleet acquisition, purchase of maintenance and repair equipment and the timely disposal of surplus equipment. 
•Manages agreements, vendor supply contracts as required for the purchase of vehicle and equipment parts, operating supplies and services necessary to operate a diverse vehicle fleet. 
•Ultimately this position must be capable of performing managerial and supervisory duties to include hiring, determining workload, delegating assignments, training, evaluating performance, and disciplinary action up to and including termination for mechanics and parts manager. 
•Responsible for Electronic Logging Device (ELD) related task and issues in regards to the Federal Motor Carrier Administration’s Hours Service (ELD) program. 
•Manages the general operation of the maintenance / fabrication shops and parts rooms. 

Job Requirements:
Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications: 

Ten plus years of supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience in fleet repair and maintenance operations, parts procurement and warehouse, vehicle acquisition and replacement programs, fabrication /body shop operations, computerized fleet information and reporting system and surplus equipment disposal techniques. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

•Requires extensive knowledge of fleet repair and maintenance operations, parts and warehouse management, vehicle acquisition and replacement programs, maintenance and fabrication shop operations, computerized fleet information and reporting system and surplus equipment disposal techniques 
•Computer proficiency using Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint. 
•Extensive knowledge of purchasing practices and principles; and general office procedures. 
•Extensive knowledge of tools, machinery and technology used in equipment maintenance and repair. •Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and standard safety practices inherent in transportation industry. 
•Ability to prepare and understand equipment specifications and evaluate substitute products. 
•Considerable skill in planning and supervising the work of subordinates. 
•Ability to analyze equipment needs and replacement programs. 
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact with staff, other departments, regulatory agencies and the public. 
•Ability to use tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines. 
•Ability to organize work priorities, meet critical deadlines and follow up on assignments independently.
